BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

Dr. LeRoy Hill, Jr.

Ebenezer Baptist Church

Dr. LeRoy Hill, Jr. is a resident of Suffolk, Virginia.   He is currently serving as the Senior Pastor of the historic Ebenezer Baptist Church, in Portsmouth, Virginia. Dr. Hill was born in Amarillo, Texas, and raised in Compton, California, as well as in Oklahoma City and Midwest City, Oklahoma. He graduated from Douglass High School, Oklahoma City, and Langston University, Langston, Oklahoma.

Dr. Hill has a love for preaching, teaching, and training others in the Word of God. Because of this conviction, he has prepared himself for this task by matriculating in various citadels of theological training. He attained a Master of Divinity, with a Biblical Languages degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas in 1991. He received a Doctorate in Ministry degree, with an emphasis on Evangelizing and Discipling African American Males, from Virginia University of Lynchburg, Virginia on May 2, 2015. On August 24, 2017, he completed his second doctoral degree in Spiritual Leadership and Renewal, with a concentration in Community Transformation from Regent University School of Divinity, in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Since then, his wife affectionately calls him “Dr. Deuce.”

Dr. Hill currently serves as president of the Providence Bible College and Theological Seminary, in Portsmouth, VA, and teaches Homiletics, Biblical Interpretation, the Old & New Testament Survey, Systematic Theology I & II, Church History I & II, and Bible Study Methods courses. Dr. Hill believes that biblical education and training are so vitally important for all pastors and teachers of the Word of God. Because of this belief, Dr. Hill also serves as the director of the doctoral program for DMIN students at the same institution.

Prior to moving to Virginia, Dr. Hill served as pastor of two churches in the inner city, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma: True Vine Independent Baptist N. E. and Mt. Triumph Baptist Church over a period of 14 years.

Dr. Hill has a passion for fulfilling the Great Commission through evangelism, discipleship, and missions. Currently, he serves as the chairman of the Board of Evangelism for the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc., appointed by the president, Dr. Jerry Young.

He is married to the best blessing of his life, Chanda Braxton Hill. He has four children, six grandchildren, and one great-grandson. His greatest joy, second to his salvation, is spending quality time with his wife and family and living the Kingdom life to the fullest.
